Adoration is a quiet time spent in prayer before Jesus, present in the eucharist. A consecrated host is placed in the center of a sacred vessel called a Monstrance. The Monstrance is then set in a very special place for all to see and worship. You can also spend time in adoration in front of the tabernacle.
While it is true that you can pray to God anywhere and that he is always within you, it is especially powerful to adore Jesus in the eucharist. In the presence of the eucharist, we pray to the power and sacrifice that it represents — the body of Jesus, who gave His life so that we may live.
“Jesus has made Himself the Bread of Life to give us life. Night and day, He is there. If you really want to grow in love, come back to the Eucharist, come back to that Adoration.” Mother Teresa
“Visit the Lord in that ‘heart to heart’ contact that is Eucharistic Adoration, day after day, you will receive new energy to help you bring comfort to the suffering and peace to the world” (Pope John Paul II).
During adoration, there is no set listing of prayers. You can spend your time with the Lord in silence, you can pray your own personal prayers, you can pray the rosary or you can recite prayers that have been traditionally used during adoration. In this link, we have compiled some for you.
There is no right or wrong way to pray during adoration. Just open your heart to Jeus in the Real Presence.
Eucharistic adoration is offered at our parish after every morning mass during the week and on Saturday.
It is also available on Wednesday afternoon in our Don Bosco Chapel from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
