Nurturing your Child’s Faith

To awaken or initiate a child into the faith is to accompany them in their discovery of God. It is to help them to become aware of the treasure of love that God has placed in their heart, inviting them to meet Him and to live with that love which fills the heart. To awaken a child to faith is to initiate them into Christian life through prayer, participation in rites and sacraments, and the celebration of Christian liturgical feasts.

What makes our catechism program unique?

Missione Maria Ausiliatrice’s Faith and Family Team wishes to partner with your family in raising Faith filled children. Our program ensures to support parents in developing the faith-life of their children, presenting clear concepts of the Catholic faith, celebrating our faith through pastoral activities, sharing an understanding of the Sacred Scripture, nurturing Christian values, and preparing children for celebrations of the Sacraments. NEW! Throughout the year at each level, there will be a mandatory field trip for all children to attend. Our catechism program will also encompass 3 to 4 activities in the Church throughout the year for each level. * This is applicable whether your child attends catechism in person or is taught at home.

How long will Catechism last?

The program at our parish consists of a 2-year preparation for First Communion (offered to students in grade 2 onward) and a 2-year preparation for Confirmation.

Each year is 20 weeks and has 1 lesson per week (beginning in mid-October).

For online registrations, there will be a non-refundable registration fee of 125.00$ for the first child & 100.00$ for each sibling, payable by Visa or MasterCard. For in-person registrations, there will be a non-refundable registration fee of 125.00$ for the first child & 100.00$ for each sibling, payable by cash only.

Do we need to bring any documents at registration?

For returning student(s) registering in-person, your registration form will be already file out, ready for verification by you.

For new student(s) registering in-person, you must bring a photocopy of the Baptism certificate received from the Church where your child was baptized. Do not bring the blue Québec birth certificate. For new student(s) registering online, you will notice an ‘upload’ button on the forms where you may attach a copy of the Baptism certificate.

Children, accompanied by their parents, must attend Mass. You may attend English Masses on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and/or Sundays at 11:00 a.m.

How will “Mass Stamps” work?

Whether your child(ren) is participating in-person or home-based, collecting 20 Mass stamps is obligatory. Someone will be available to stamp your child(ren)’s card at the end of the Mass.
