RCIA is an abbreviation for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process by which non-Catholics enter the Catholic Faith.
To become a Catholic, one must understand the teachings of the Church, believe in those teachings, and be a baptized Catholic. Those who are not baptized will study the teachings of the Catholic Church through RCIA and conclude their journey with the reception of the Sacrament of Baptism into the Church.
Those who were baptized as a Protestant, will study the teachings of the Catholic Faith in RCIA and conclude their journey with their reception into the Church by a priest, which may include a conditional Baptism and a profession of the Catholic Faith.
To become a Catholic one must profess the Christian faith, be
baptized, participate in the sacraments, and commit to following the teachings of the Jesus Christ and His Church. Before an adult may become Catholic or receive the sacraments of 1st Communion or Confirmation, it is necessary that they complete a preparation such as the RCIA program.

The RCIA introduces a person to the fundamental teachings of
Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, opens them up to Holy
Scripture, as well as provides them with the tools to lead an
authentic Christian life. We provide you with the knowledge and
skills to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and to receive the sacraments with joy. RCIA is a series of classes which begin in the autumn and conclude before Easter. The sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil mass on Holy Saturday
