ABOUT LAST RITES

Grace for the journey home

If a person is nearing the end of life, the church offers a very special sacrament called Last Rites. It is given by a priest, deacon or a trained layperson. If given by a priest, an opportunity for Reconciliation (or confession) may be provided as part of the rite if the person desires.

ABOUT FUNERALS

Eternal Rest Grant Unto Them, O Lord

Our parish is here to support you with prayer, compassion, and the sacred rites of the Church—entrusting your loved one to the mercy and peace of God.

As Catholics, the Funeral Mass is a sacred liturgy in which we commend the deceased to God and celebrate the hope of the Resurrection. It includes the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist, where Holy Communion is offered.

Please note: Funeral homes may offer prayer services or memorial gatherings, but these are not the same as a Catholic Funeral Mass. They do not include the celebration of the Eucharist and are therefore not considered a Mass.

To ensure your loved one receives the full rites of the Church, please inform the funeral home that you wish to arrange a Funeral Mass at your parish.  The funeral home will then contact your parish to make the arrangements.
